Bag Ladies Queens 2021

What is something about you people assume is true that isn’t? I’m not as “bitchy” as people make me out to be (LOL)!

Who/What inspired you to ride the Bus Tour for the first time? When I was reigning as Miss Gay Indiana, Sparkle Nightly reached out about a fundraiser.  I became familiar with The Indy Bag Ladies, met some wonderful formers and rode the bus.

What has been your favorite Bus Tour Theme? Mine, of course. Bag Ladies Expres- A Night of A 1,000 Caftans: A Muu Muu Extravaganza

Share your favorite memory of the Bus Tour? There are too many to count.  Since loosing a friend to HIV/AIDS several years ago, my best friend Scott Palmer/Anita Moorehead and I carry a photo of him each year we ride the bus, in remembrance of him and all of the wonderful souls we have lost to the disease.

Who is your favorite Bag Ladies Sister and why? Tonya Campisi, Crystal Flash, Georgia Peach, Cheri Forever, Barbra Pleaze, Iona Traylor, Sparkle Nightly, Pat Yo Weave, June Taylor, Latrina Bidet, Holly Luyah, Roada Kihl, Jackie O’Nasty, just to name a few (lol).

Each of the former Bag Ladies are all unique individuals, who give selflessly to their Community.  Without these individuals and their community support, The Indy Bag Ladies would not be the organization that it is today.

Why did you want to be Bag Ladies Bus Tour Queen? For over two decades, I have volunteered my time to my community through varies organizations that contribute funds to HIV/AIDS awareness, Breast Cancer, IYG, The Damien Center and Humane Society just to name a few. I wanted to use the platform as Bag Lady Queen to set an example not only to my peers, but to the youth as well.  I strive to empower the younger members of our community by promoting Unity and Positivity.  We each can make a positive impact and that was why I ran for Bag Lady Queen.

What does “Once a Queen, always a Queen,” mean to you? Although you may “reign” for 365 days, promoting the title, you will always be a Queen, lending a helping hand, assisting however possible.

What is your biggest accomplishment as Bag Ladies Queen or as a Former? Staying true to why I ran for Bag Lady Queen.  Connecting new and existing contacts, raising awareness to charitable causes and organizations, being as visible as possible, promoting the Bag Lady mission.

For what would you most like to be remembered? Loving, helpful, compassionate, thoughtful, kind.

When a cure and a vaccine for HIV are discovered and HIV no longer exists, what will the Bag Ladies do next? Continue on with their mission of equality of LGBTQIA+ Hoosiers through Advocacy, education and inclusion.
